Registry Keys for Autodesk Navisworks 2010 Uninstalls

Autodesk TS Doc

Issue

When you try to install Navisworks®, the installer lists Navisworks as already being installed, even though it is not. As a result, you are unable to install Navisworks.

Solution

An incomplete uninstall can sometimes leave residual registry keys that may cause the Navisworks installer to detect incorrectly that Navisworks has already been installed.

To resolve this issue, remove the following key from the Windows Registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\39497741D131AAB48BF792993B746F9A

Once you have done so, you can proceed with the installation.

Warning! Problems caused by improperly editing the Windows Registry could render your computer operating system unusable. Microsoft provides a wealth of critical information that you need to know about the registry in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

Use the Microsoft Registry Editor only at your own risk and only after backing up the registry as well as the system.dat and user.dat files as outlined for your operating system in the Microsoft Knowledge Base and in the related Autodesk solution, TS66513. Additional information about the registry is also contained in the Help topics in the Microsoft Registry Editor.

Perform Status Enquiry – Will Not Read License File Properly

If you are experiencing problems with the Server Status tab > Perform Status Enquiry, make sure that the “LMTOOLS Ignores License File Path Environment Variables” option is selected on the Service/License File tab and run the Status Enquiry again. In many cases this will correct erroneous Status Enquiries.

Subscription Center Information SN# and Product Keys

Subscription Customers may have questions about accessing their 2011 software downloads. Here’s how the process works:

Subscription customers who are in the role of Software Coordinator will receive an email as soon as their serial number hasbeen upgraded after the release of the 2011 product. The email, which is sent from Download@autodesksubscription.com, contains the customer’s serial number and the product key, which is needed for installation. Please remind your customers to check their junk/spam folders for mail coming from Download@autodesksubscription.com because the emails sometimes end up there.

The system cannot find the path specified error when Creating Administrative Images for Custom Network Deployments with Map 3D 2011

Autodesk has provided a tech source (TS##)  resolution document for this issue:  I have posted the description of the issue.  Click the following link to view it.

TS15173935

Issue Description:

When creating a Deployment, with the Deployment Wizard, you receive an error message saying:

The system cannot find the path specified

Failed to copy the following files:

\\HostComputer\ShareName\…\DeploymentName\AdminImage\x**\en-US\acad\Acad\Program Files\Root\HelpHTML\*.*

To

<<Custom Support Files network share location>>

Where x** is x86 for 32-bit Deployments and x64 is for 64-bit Deployments.

Network deployment fails when installing AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 Language Pack

TS15079870

Issue:

When creating a custom or modified administrative image for a network deployment you must copy the HelpHTML folder and files to the administrative image from the media DVD. Otherwise you cannot install a network deployment; the install process will unexpectedly fail when it starts installing the AutoCAD Map 3D Language Pack.

Solution:

After you create the administrative image copy the <media>:\X86\EN-US\ACAD\ACAD\PROGRAM FILES\ROOT\HELPHTML folder to the \\HostComputer\ShareName\…\DeploymentName\AdminImage\X86\EN-US\ACAD\ACAD\PROGRAM FILES\ROOT\ folder. You can now begin to install a network deployment.

3ds Max does not launch no messaging no splashscreen

Issue:

3DS Max would not launch on a 32 bit operating system.
Double click on the desktop icon and nothing happened.
No hour glass, no hard drive activity, no error message,
No splash screens, absolutely nothing.

Solution:

created an exclusion group in their Symantec Antivirus and then it loads.

Interesting Point:

Anti-virus cannot be overlooked for causing havoc with Autodesk software.

Civil 3D 2011 : survey tab does not layer things correctly

The Link for the File is not provided here because of the impending release of the hotfix.  see below note from Autodesk Technical Support:

====================================

The issue you have described in a known issue for which the development is about to provide the permanent fix in the next few days. Here is a fixed version of the AeccSurvey.dbx (x64).  If you need this fixed for your presentation any time this week we can provide you an official fix but you would need to know that this needs to be removed before you apply an official hotfix (which will include other fixes, too) because if this is not removed installer will be unable to apply the hotfix since the file has changed. So, make certain you backup your original AeccSurvey.dbx before you drop this new .dbx in. Here are the steps:

1.     Go to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011
2.     Right-click on AeccSurvey.dbx file and rename it to AeccSurvey.dwb.old
3.     Copy the attached AecSurvey.dbx into C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011
4.     Restart Civil 3D 2011
